"Stand rooted on the heights, like the cliff-top tree.
You will see the sea of the ireful world fall at your feet,
like birds in a storm."
— Lo Pi de Formentor (The Pine of Formentor), 1875
"My soul is like a pine upon the mountain,
raised to the sky, rooted in the rock —
it loves the storms and the wild sea's roar."
— Lo Pi de Formentor · Miquel Costa i Llobera
"Let the winds howl, the thunder crash and roll,
let the dark clouds gather and the tempest blow —
the pine holds firm, and knows where it belongs."
— Lo Pi de Formentor · Miquel Costa i Llobera
"O homeland of the soul! O Mallorca, island blest,
queen among the jewels of the sapphire sea —
your beauty lives in every verse I breathe."
— Horacianes, 1906 · Miquel Costa i Llobera
"Where the almond blossoms first in February's cold,
and the olive groves grow silver on the terraced hill —
this is the land that taught my heart to sing."
— De l'agre de la terra · Miquel Costa i Llobera

The Heart of
Plaça Major

Nestled in the iconic Plaça Major of Pollença, Ca'n Moixet — the Mallorcan word for "little cat" — has been the beloved meeting point of the town for generations.

Originally known as Cafè Espanyol, this corner of paradise serves as the living room for Pollença itself. Here, the authentic soul of Mallorca lives in every cortado, every pamboli, and every golden evening on the terrace.

Open daily from 7:30 AM until 1:00 AM — from the first coffee to the last nightcap.

"Here is life from early to late at any time of the year — here is the authentic Mallorca."— TripAdvisor Guest Review

What is a Moixet?

In the Mallorcan dialect, moixet (pronounced "moy-shet") means little cat — hence the charming black cat on our logo, resting on a yellow chair, watching over the square.

The name was given by owners who fell in love with Pollença, renaming the historic Cafè Espanyol with something that captured the spirit of the town: curious, warm, and always at home in the sun.

Whenever I'm in Pollença, I live in Plaza Mayor and Can Moixet. Here is the authentic Mallorca. The food is wonderful at fair prices, and everyone has always been super nice and attentive.

Probably the best croquettes I had while visiting Mallorca. Great location in the square with a wonderful atmosphere. If you're looking for tapas in Pollença, this is a must!

The love for a classic. It never fails — the best tapas in Mallorca, with its classic friendly service at the plaça de Pollença. Our go-to every single visit.

A History of the Plaça

Through the decades, Ca'n Moixet has been the heartbeat of Pollença —
known as Cafè Espanyol long before the little cat claimed the square.

The Island in Words

"Pollença — where the swallows wheel above the ancient stones,
and the market fills the square each Sunday morning,
and time slows to the pace of olive oil on bread."
— Inspired by Pollença's tradition · Mallorcan spirit
"The cypress and the almond, the fig and the old vine —
Mallorca's island holds its beauty like a secret,
given only to those who sit and stay awhile."
— After Costa i Llobera · Island verses
"At the Plaça, beneath the plane trees' shade,
a cortado, the morning paper, the world's quiet hum —
this is all a man needs before the sun climbs high."
— A Pollença morning · In the spirit of the square
"The sea is blue, the mountain grey with thyme,
the pines of Formentor lean into the wind —
and here, at this table, the afternoon is golden."
— Formentor evoked · Mediterranean light
"To live without excess, to taste without haste —
the Mallorcan way is the way of the cat:
watchful, content, and utterly at home."
— The way of the Moixet · Pollença philosophy
